The bachelor

Being on one income for now we decided to save a little money and drop cable.  I thought this would be a doddle.  WRONG.  I miss tellie so much.  Fortunately there is much available direct online.  Which leads me to today.  I decided to take a look at the bachelor.

This show. Oi vay.  These women.. one of them rolled up on a bicycle.  That had A PIANO  attached on the front.  And she was playing an original composition.  One woman came with headache meds.  One with her service dog and one special special girl decided it would be a totally brilliant idea to stuff her dress with a pillow and pretend to be pregnant (because she heard he wanted to have more kids).  GENIUS MOVE LADY.

It's 15 minutes of fame for those 27 girls...that's the only reason I can think that is viable to sign up for it because is there truly any reasonable chance of meeting your prince charming in this environment?  Well dear reader, I am going to report back once I catch up with the shenanigans.  I shall endure for you.

Study

Today dear readers I have set aside the day for study.

A test of sorts..im getting myself ready for interviewing.  I say interview ING not because I've got a ton of different jobs to look at but because on Friday I have two phone interviews followed on Monday by four.  These follow on from an interview last week for one job I have applied for.

Happily, it is sunny and I had a good night sleep AND I started the day with a good breakfast - all things condusive to a happy me.

I haven't stepped into the shower yet and its already 11am but I can't wait to wash and dry my hair so I can experiment with a hair technique learned from whippycake.  Im kind of am in love with her look....it almost makes me consider platinum blonde again.

Aunty advice 101

Ever had a song mind worm?

Ya know....that one chorus from Welcome to the Jungle looping over and over again in your mind??

My sweet niece Lauryn was complaing of such an ailment today and it was my pleasure to disperse the cure all...Suzanne Vega.

Yes friend's,  you too can safely remove any mind worm by simply humming Tom's Diner.  Don't know the song?  Let me oblige:

Abraham Hicks

Have you ever heard of Abraham Hicks?

I actually came across this wisdom many years ago and its definatley provided some nuggets to help me walk my journey with.

For some if you this might sound a little loopy...to others not so much.  Whatever you inital standpoint have an open mind and look/listen to the wisdom...just give it a taste.

Kay, with me?  Deep breaths...Abraham is actually a group of entites channelled by a person (Esther Hicks).

There's oodles of wondrous video clips to listen to..so much wisdom pours through each one and I highly recommend taking a few minutes to see what you think

http://www.abraham-hicks.com/lawofattractionsource/videos.php

Heard about the movie "The Secret"? Esther Hicks was a part of that movie.

Let me know what you think.

A SYNOPSIS OF ABRAHAM-HICKS' TEACHINGS

1. YOU ARE A PHYSICAL EXTENSION OF THAT WHICH IS NON-PHYSICAL.

2. YOU ARE HERE IN THIS BODY BECAUSE YOU CHOSE TO BE HERE.

3. THE BASIS OF YOUR LIFE IS FREEDOM; THE PURPOSE OF YOUR LIFE IS JOY.

4. YOU ARE A CREATOR; YOU CREATE WITH YOUR EVERY THOUGHT.

5. ANYTHING THAT YOU CAN IMAGINE IS YOURS TO BE OR DO OR HAVE

6. AS YOU ARE CHOOSING YOUR THOUGHTS, YOUR EMOTIONS ARE GUIDING YOU.

 7. THE UNIVERSE ADORES YOU FOR IT KNOWS YOUR BROADEST INTENTIONS.

 8. RELAX INTO YOUR NATURAL WELL-BEING. ALL IS WELL. (REALLY IT IS!)

 9. YOU ARE A CREATOR OF THOUGHTWAYS ON YOUR UNIQUE PATH OF JOY.

 10. ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN AND POSSESSIONS TO BE EXCHANGED ARE BY-PRODUCTS OF YOUR FOCUS ON JOY.

 11. YOU MAY APPROPRIATELY DEPART YOUR BODY WITHOUT ILLNESS OR PAIN.

 12. YOU CAN NOT DIE; YOU ARE EVERLASTING LIFE.

Something to ponder

Someone is sitting in the shade today because some one planted a tree long ago.

That's a powerful quote to ponder

Just a moment

So so true.  When you take a breath a get quiet you realize that each moment is sacred.
GOOD NIGHT WORLD!

Victorious

As many of you might know I'm a really big fan of words.  Much more so than your usual personage.

Each year, usually in early January, I brainstorm for "my word".  This last year it was SIMPLIFY.  This year it's RECEIVE.  I chose the word receive because I am challenged with being a gracious receiver and I also really liked the aspect of receiving!  When I looked up the dictionary definition I was even more excited because there is so much to this word....

To take or acquire (something given, offered, or transmitted); get.

To hear or see (information, for example): received a good report of the group's activities.

To have (a title, for example) bestowed on oneself.

To meet with; experience

To bear the weight or force of; support: The beams receive the full weight of the walls and roof.

To take or intercept the impact of

To take in, hold, or contain: a tank that receives rainwater.

To admit: receive new members.

To greet or welcome: receive guests.

To perceive or acquire mentally: receive a good impression.

To regard with approval: essays that were received well.

To listen to and acknowledge formally and authoritatively: The judge received their oath of allegiance.

To acquire or get something; be a recipient.

To admit or welcome guests or visitors: The couple are receiving this winter.

I love receive.

I also was thinking about taking another word VICTORIOUS.

So many great words and themes...what will your word be?

Advice on dealing with imperfection

Like this point of view very much!!

Surrender

I had written a beautiful post for this morning dear reader...but it didnt publish and worse yet did not save.  So ... we begin again.  Isnt that the glory of life?  ...That as we take each new breath, we truly can begin again...reinvent ourselves into our next grandest vision of ourselves.  Life is full of endings and beginnings and as I write this, beginning again,  I recognize that I am the best version I have ever been of myself.  I have many many things I want to and will change about myself yet...but right here, right now I know I am my best version yet!

What's your vision for yourself today?

I hope you see what I see.

You are a perfect vision of loveliness.  You make a difference in the lives of so many...many that you might not even know.
You are potential, but even if you choose to do nothing you are a magnificent perfect being, just as you are.
You are loved.

Take a deep breath, let it out and surrender to the knowledge that all is well.  Shine you crazy diamond you!!

Last few minutes of 1/12

It's 11:30pm.
I should be sleeping, I have an interview tomorrow...buuuut, I had to get an episode of The Tudors in.  And now when I want to sleep the dog is barking her fool head off.  So I'm going to tell you about an item I'm lusting for.  Kind if weird, I'll grant you.  But after a hiatus of 24 years im again drawn to wanting a shiny new bike.
My last bike ride was with Peta Carney.  On Waiheke Island which in in Hauraki Gulf, not far from my childhood home in New Zealand. The details are foggy with so much time passing but I remember it being very fun.
They say you never forget how to ride a bike.  After today's experience I can confirm this is a bare faced lie.  I had forgotten.  In fact I really could tell I had forgotten when I came around the corner of the Walmart garden center storage area and crashed into a row of shelving.  Did I mention, I was dressed in my church going onsom which included my cashmere pashmina and aurora borealis vintage crystal necklace?  At least it was a classy crash right?
Regards of this must unfortunate incident I am still on a jag for a bike ... and this one...the tuquase one, with the dog basket in front, pink paint highlights and travel coffee mug/adult beverage holder might just be the ticket.

Sunday

I  do so love me a Sunday.  The typical Sunday for us involves church, inspired after discussions between me and the mr, some sort of delicious brunch treat and then an afternoon as we fancy.  fortunately, today was such a day

One of the little's spent the night, she too is a church goer (like so many Americans...sooooo different in NZ where it is much less common to attend on a regular basis).  Little #3 goes to a church far different from ours.  Her choice, Southern Baptist (gasp...sharp intake of breath) but she loves it AND they love her AND she has simply flourished in their youth program so its all good.  Our choice is the Center for Spiritual Living in Seattle.  It's a 45 minute hop down the road from North Everett where we live, but TOTALLY worth it.  Anyhoo, dropped #3 at her church and then continued south to CSL.  INSPIRED, totally amazing talk today.  On the way home Mr and I talked about our big hairy audacious intentions for the year.  This is an intention that's REALLY large and yummy.  Big blue sky, moneys no object kind of goal.  Mine is:

For me and mr to be retired and to have purchased a fabulous bed and breakfast to run, all done with perfect ease, with no financial burden, and within 5 years

Yip,  that would be by 2019.  I'm not sure how this will happen, but it's out there now.  The talk at church centered around stating your intention, making it welcome in your life (keeping focused on it, doing the work that you are called to do to help it along) and then...surrendering the "how" to the Universe, knowing it is done.

Deep Breath.

Yesss.  I can handle that.  You are welcome early retirement and financial abundance.  You are welcome fabulously located bed and breakfast and an abundance of guests and the unfoldment of financial freedom.  Yes, so welcome!

That's my big intention, the 5 year plan.

The short term, less hairy goals are:
- to land a fabulously fulfilling full time, well paying, close located position within 6 weeks
- to continue to work creatively on projects and to be able to have happy purchasers for the things I make
- to make healthier choices.  Not just regards food (though that's a biggie) but in all aspects of life
- to love more (be a better wife, a better co-raiser, a better sister,  a better friend, a better community member)
- to get to Greece this year and have plenty of money to have a truly memorable time
- to halve our debt by the end of the year

Stated.  They are all out there for you to see now.  I'd love to hear about yours if you are willing to share!  Just comment below.  If you would like my support as you travel on your journey to fulfillment - let me know I would be delighted to be there for you!

I know I better not rattle on to much, I don't want to bore you, so for now this will do.

As you continue your day know deeply that you are so very loved.

Till tomorrow possums...

Welcome

Welcome to post number one.

I guess it's not really post number one because there have been several other bloggies that I have written, but you know what I'm like - I love love love fresh starts.  And so, here welcome, to post number one, of Akeewee.

I'm not terribly sure what this blogs flavor is right now, aside from another creative outlet - and always, Im hoping it will provide you with a little inspiration for your own life now and again...  nuggets if you will.

Just to catch you up on me:

I'm Fiona

Currently 42 as I write this, though I can honestly say that I feel so much younger than that...most days!

I'm married to a wonderful Mr, and have been for the last 10 years, in the Mr package came three treasures -  one of who has already flown the coop (El), he's a sailor in the US Navy...I'm crossing my fingers he will be soon be returning to the coop but that's a whole nother story for a whole nother day!  El is 19, and there are also two daughters Gen - 17, and Dot - 15 to complete the bouquet.
Two fur babies that I adore:  Betty (really old we estimate going on 19 this year) and Lucy (5 this year), both are Bischons.

I'm an ex-pat Kiwi, living in the US, just north of Seattle.  My accent is a constant topic of conversation within my community - I'm about to re-enter the job market after a 6 month sabbatical at which time it is sure to be the topic d'jour once more.

I do invite you to comment lots.  Please...lots. Oh, and feel very welcome to share the bloggie goodness if you fancy.

Kay, I think that has pretty much laid the foundation of who I am...now lets chat about today.
